ITEM DESCRIPTION:
Beautiful 8" X 10" premium photo issued on a linen-textured paper stock, dates to approximately 1936.

This is Norma Shearer promoting "Romeo and Juliet" - A MGM Picture

Attached (glued I suppose) on back are two original newspaper clippings covering the death of husband Irving Thalberg. The clippings are layered with the photos shown below attached across the top edge only, flip it back and another article is shown--the bottom article is longer, so it's folded up, unfold and it's is an original clipping of Thalberg's obituary with headline "Norma Shearer in Seclusion as Hollywood Mourns Her Husband, Finder of Many Famous Stars" -- both sides shown below, where I attempt to show this set-up. It's actually pretty neat!

Diagonal impressions at each of the 4 corners as item was originally tucked into the corners of a scrapbook and over the years the weight of the book caused these impressions. Otherwise just some light edge wear.

ORIGINS - HISTORY:
Not a still, this was a mass produced item during the 1930's and included either with a candy/gum item or more likely as an offering from the New York Daily Mirror. The confusion as to the origin comes from my research which seems to identify them as ACC (American Card Catalog) item R95 (Movie Stars, 8 x 10 linen finish, several series), a Candy or Gum issue--but then somebody else had contacted me with scans of their collection which included a New York Sunday Mirror envelope that his Linen premiums had been delivered in. Interesting, though a little confusing.
